Salespeople get a bad reputation sometimes. The stereotypes include pushy, aggressive, don't take no for an answer, and talk more than they listen.
Movies like Used Cars, Boiler Room, and Glengarry Glenross only perpetuate the stereotypes!
It's hard for those of us who do care about helping buyers to overcome the sleazy, cheesy, greasy sales personas out there.
Some might even say that they got "badgered" into buying something!
Well, here's a little character that fits all the stereotypes and you just have to sit back and laugh!

Thanks for the laugh.
Lara~ I don't know about you, but I don't get badgered into buying anything, it just makes it easier to say NO! Those video's were hilarious!
Badger- That is it! Thanks for the giggle. Did you see the Self-loathing Realtors post with the same photo- too, scary!
The videos are pretty funny. Unfortunately some people in our industry have portrayed this exact image. Let's hope they see how cheesy these tactics are!
Cute...I have seen that salesman some place!
I needed that giggle. Especially today! Got pulled over this morning and I might lose a listing. grrrr
Lara, Thanks for sharing the U-Tube videos...they were cute...and we've all had our "experiences" with pushy sales people...I also loved the pic on your post (the salesman w/ fashion sense!) lol
Jeff-I'm glad it made you laugh!
Vickie-I'm with you. If they push, then I will not buy it out of sheer spite!
Jane-that's too funny. I found it on Google Images. Now I'll have to go look at it :-)
Rebecca C-we actually had a salesperson at our company play this video as part of his presentation. I don't know if he was laughing at it or with it.
Gary-he reminds me of Herb on WKRP.
Rebecca S-I'm glad you found some humor in your day. It can only get better from here!
Pretty cute clips! There's nothing worse than high pressure salespeople trying to work over - salespeople! It insults my intelligence.
haha - now those are some funny commercials! Thanks for the chuckle Lara :)
Rebecca, I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! That guy has a truly unique fashion sense.
Janna, you think that they would learn, but I imagine that it must work on some people or they wouldn't do it!
LOL I've had encounters with sales people who look exactly like him. Who is that??????????
Kara-I'm glad you got a little chuckle out of them!
Callie-he looks like every used car salesman I know :-)
Lara- I was a new/used car salesman for about a month last winter. Alot of the guys were "badgers". One of the best sales guys was the worst. Everyday he would come in and say... I'm getting X victims today lol. He was funny, would make jokes, tell buyers the good ole... I've got 5 guys on this one right here and one is for sure coming back at X tonight to put a deposit down so if you want it lets do the paperwork now I'll just find him another one. People loved him though because while he was a "badger" he was also nice, friendly, and would compliment the crap out of them. They wanted me to be like that and I couldn't/ wouldn't do it (the badgering not the friendliness lol). I sold one vehichle and had 3 others in the works (that all finalized after I quit) just being me and making sure my clients were all happy with their choices. I would actually tell them "lets go throw $20-50 (depending on the vehicle and MPG) run it till its dry, and if you like everything about it drive yours home tonight and come see me tomorrow. If you decide thats not the one for you we can take something else for a spin".
I will say the '08 Impalas handle better and smoother at 90-95 than they do 65-70 (legal speed limits on most highways here) from my experience and in my opinion lol
Chris - I would not have pegged you for the used car sales type! Maybe that's why it was only a month. You would do better selling homes because it's a more amicable type of sale.
Thanks for all of your help with the video links. I coulldn't figure out how to have the video paused on the blog though.
Believe it or not selling new Hondas for two years is where I learned to demonstrate, negotiate, and close a sale. I learned early on that I didn't have to be a shark, but I had to not get eaten by the other sharks. It was valuable experience and a long two years!
Lara- For two years right out of high school, I sold furniture in a retail store that was very relaxed and I was able to just be myself, have fun, and sell a ton of different furniture/ home decor items lol... I sold over $7k in one month and we didn't have a single item over $500, averaged roughly 3-4k a month while the 2 managers and 2 other part timers combined averaged about 3.... yeah I was part time too lol
Yeah w/ youtube I think it is impossible to have them not just start out playing because of the way youtube is setup. Just depends on the site you get the video from, basically if when you 1st click to see a video if it goes right into the video thats how it will be if you put it on here ;-)
Chris, you sound like a natural salesperson. The key is to be yourself and be sincere. People see right through it if not.
Lara- My grandma owns an ice cream store that I worked at for a few years even (simple little sales there lol) my mother was an RE agent back in the 80s, a mortgage specialist for the last 8 years, and RE investor for over 20 years, so besides my own personal sales experience I have been around sales both big and small most of my life, and you are completely right....#1 Be yourself. I can tell you are good at what you do because your so darn smart, and best of all your a genuin person. Keep on smiling and keep up the great work :-D
Chris, you are too kind! Thank you.
You definitely have an advantage running your own company and having a sales background. Alot of business owners do not understand the importance of sales and marketing.
Being from the Badger state and cheese being a staple here, I had to look.
Mary, that is too funny! I would not have made the connection. No offense intended :-)
Lara- Just like in any business if you can't sell you can just forget it, because regardless of your business your selling either a good or service.... or like me a darn good service :-P LOL (maybe it is easier than you thought to be cheesy :-\ )
Maybe being cheesey just comes more naturally for some than others ... lol.
Hi Lara, I am going to reblog this. I know some people who need to see this. Hopefully, it will catch their attention. - MarkD
Mark, I'm flattered that your going to reblog this. It still cracks me up! There is a whole series of these videos on UTube ... very funny :-)
Boiler room is a great movie, despite the ethics, the sales skills are impressive.
Morgan, I admit that I loved all the movies I mentioned. They bring to life the things that we live in sales everyday!
